Rick SImpson did not "run from the law", as you incorrectly insinuate. He was in Europe when the raid took place. He simply has enough common sense to realize that if he were to return home at this moment in time, he would likely be arrested IMMEDIATELY after leaving the plane.

The chance that he'd even get inside the terminal to claim his luggage is infinitessimal!

They would likely have a dozen cars all on the runway prepared to take him off in a blaze of press and propaganda, to make him yet another showpiece for the DEA's "War on Canadians Telling The Truth!"

Two things I would like to comment on.

Many people asked us when Cannabis Culture was going to write about Rick Simpson and his "oil".

Whenever I asked Rick Simpson to write about his work, or engaged other journalists and writers to write about Rick Simpson, and finally when I tried to do it myself, Simpson never co-operated. I could never get actual names and phone numbers of patients who were allegedly "cured". I never could see any so-called sworn affidavits. I could never interview any patients. I could never get the formula used, or the strain, or anything specific whatsoever. That is why no journalist has been able to write about Simpson, he is unverifiable, in his claims, his patients, his documentation, everything, really. No solid paperwork either.

Secondly, its cowardice to stay in Europe when Simpson should, to me, obviously come back and prove his claims in court. Lets have the "cured" patients in court, lets see the affidavits, lets have the science and the evidence submitted in court. If Simpson's claims are true, he stands a good chance of making a great case of historical precedents.

That Simpson wouldn't want to return to Canada is suspicious to me. You don't get "hero" status or folk legend or pioneer accolades by running away. He is not being sought by US authorities, its a local raid, its his third raid/charge, but it by no means is an undesirable situation. Putting Simpson in jail for cultivation still seems very unlikely, especially since Bill C-15 is not yet law. There is a great potential for a medical necessity defense. There are all sorts of opportunities to educate the entire nation in an extensive defense, bringing in the "cured" as witnesses, all of them will be compelling....if all the claims made by Simpson are true.

I find Simpson a bit of an odd fellow. When he was raising money to travel across North America to promote his "oil", they claimed to need $300,000 to do the tour, and they raised only $3,000, so it was called off. I couldn't believe this $300,000 figure they claimed to be trying to raise. Jodie & I traveled to 30 Canadian cities across Canada for about $17,000 over 2 months from St. John's to Victoria, and I told them this amount of money they claimed to need was outlandish for a tour, and absurd to try to get this amount raised for what would be a simple speech at the public library in selected cities.

The claims by Simpson need to be verified, and a courtroom is a good place to do so, its a giant stage, and he has been, after all, asking for a big stage to tell his story about how Cannabis Cures Cancer.

Mr.Rick Simpson has shown such courage and now he can't even return to his own country. He was on a speaking tour in Europe. I spoke to him personally about coming out to Toronto for a talk back in the summer before he left. This article makes the mistake of saying Mr.Simpson's " extraordinary claims have yet to be verified by any scientific or medical body" and that he had traveled to Europe just to accept the Freedom Fighter of the Year award. He was there mainly for a speaking tour. Jack Herer was to be going with him and has posted his support for Mr.Simpson on the net for all to see. ( but then Jack had the heart attack and could not go). He was also to be joined on his speaking tour by Dr.Mechoulam of the Weizman Institute of Israel. Dr Mechoulam has proven that brain tumour cells are killed by THC molecules just check out the link . He was also the one responsible for isolating the THC molecules back in1964 along with two other scientists.

The science has been there for decades.
Also there is a Doctor Malameade from the University of Colorodo who is probably the only professor to teach a course in the cannabinoid system of the body. He states that Mother's milk contains cannabinoids which calms the newborn of the trauma of birth, so the human body is born with cannabinoid receptors and that Marijuana has a few cannabinoids not just the well known THC. Dr. Malameade is broadcast on utube stating his support for Mr.Simpson's work . Fatigues, I never thought I'd say this to another Believer in legalization but you don't know shit!

My freind, I may not as of yet be able to verify Rick Simpson's claims about the oil for Cancer and Diabetes but I know I was sick for a very long time and progressivly getting worse.
After 10 years of pharaco medicine's for raging hemorrhoids and I.B.S. which I was suffering so bad at the end my legs would be falling to sleep waiting for a bowel movement, I would spend more time on the can either horrible diarrhea and cramps so bad it sounded like I was dying or constipation so bad I would ache all over inside from FULL bowels.
My Intestines would be full I was LIVING on Metamucil and other pills and they were not working anymore.
When I did have a bowel movement it was full of WHITE PUSS and BLOOD constantly.
My kids thought I was going to end up like other members of family, I've had 4 members get Cancer and one survive in the last 10 years.
Obesity THRIVES in my genetics and the only thing kept me from topping 350 lbs like cousins was smoking it, smoking it and I was 100 lbs lighter and healthier. BUT

When I ATE IT, MY WHOLE LIFE CHANGED, NO MORE HEMORRHOIDS, NO MORE CREAMS or PILLS WITH SIDE EFFECTS..

as far as endangering the lives of people talk to some success stories. Bet they will debate strongly with you that "knows" nothing!
I guess you would opt for the detrimental poisonous chemical injections and radiation for cancer treatment as opposed to non invasive natural methods. Oh yes and of course lets not forget the cost of these wonderful poisons. Like %83,000 a dose!! This is a fact my best friends wife experienced this summer. Who can afford that with out insurance?

I don't see why people are having so much trouble believing this. Let me tell you the evidence I have come across. I have talked to about a dozen people personally who have seen this oil work. I've seen it work with my own eyes, healing skin infections that the most powerful pharmaceuticals could not.

I've also spoken to several other people who distribute Rick's oil and have seen it cure cancer. This includes Roland A. Duby (not sure if I should use his real name here), Sam Wayne Smith, and the Liberty Bell Temple in California. Marc, Richard Brumfield claims his medicine can cure cancer, and he is your personal friend. Multiple people have seen cannabis achieve these results.

Do you guys realize that Rick Simpson was arrested once, yet continued to give oil away for free, and then was arrested again! He risked 12 years in jail to give away something for free. Why would he do that if it wasn't working?

Rick's personal evidence, combined with the testimony of other distributors and individual patients, along with the dozen or so studies showing THC and CBD kill cancer cells, I just don't see why this is still so hard to believe.

And I don't see why the people against this cannot make the oil and test it! I know you have the capability to do this Marc, and your involvement could literally save the world. Out of all the things you can do, the best thing you could do for humanity is to make the oil and see it work yourself I've seen the oil work, I know it works. Once you see it, all of the bullshit these dissenters are spouting is revealed to be ridiculous.

In the video, Rick's son tells the RCMP that his property is a 'country within a country'. Is he part of the Freemen cult? They believe they can declare a piece of land to be it's own country immune from Canada's laws. Emery's attitude toward Simpson Re:on the subject of cancer
If I may interject, I believe it is clear within this forum what sparked Emery's outright rejection of Simpson's cause.

Allow me to explore this:

Marc Emery loves being the center of attention, so much so that he will jump into anyone else's spotlight to get the attention he wants. I think the posts within this forum are a very good indication of that very fact alone.

Emery has a following - to be sure - for being a Canadian advocate for marijuana/cannabis smokers... I am not knocking that at all, but is that really as monumental as curing cancer and then helping as many people as possible? I don't think so. Do you? Could jealousy be a factor here? Sure it could:

One way for certain that Emery and Simpson differ is that Rick Simpson does not relish the spotlight at all the way Emery does. Rick is doing what he does because he feels in his heart that it is the right thing to do, and I haven't met a lot of people who differ on that position - that is unless they have something to lose by taking the wrong side.

Rick Simpson healed a man from Amherst, N.S. (Christian Laurette) who made Rick's documentary RUN FROM THE CURE for free - only because he was healed by the help oil from an excruciating back ache caused from scoliosis; and like Simpson, Laurette felt the need to contribute to the world only for the good of doing it, and not to make money from the sick and dying.

Rick Simpson gave away hemp oil for free for one reason; it was the right thing to do. Sure, some people had to pay money to get hemp oil, and it was only because they wanted it and Rick didn't have the raw plant material to produce oil for them, so those people basically paid for their own hemp at grower prices (willingly). Rick pocketed nothing from any of it, and in fact he spent his own money and time on the rest of the hemp oil production for those people, and again charged them nothing. The man simply never charged anyone, and under no circumstances would he put himself in a position for any financial gain whatsoever from any of this; Rick is just that kind of person. Good-hearted, and sincere.

Anyone who speaks about paying for hemp oil are all in the same category as above, they bought material at grower prices, and since the work was already done they made assumptions about it that are both misinformed and untrue (and those who make those kinds of statements are showing a high degree [no pun intended] of not only extreme ignorance to the situation, but the words ungrateful and pathetic come to mind also.

I don't know Marc Emery personally, but I don't think this matches with how Marc ran his seed company. Am I wrong? If I am wrong I am sure someone will waste no time with their retort. Meanwhile, if Emery made money with his efforts, he was running a business... while Rick's organization is entirely non-profit with no paid employees.

What Emery wants is the focus on him, clearly. What Simpson wants is for people to know how to heal themselves.

Emery is shouting "FREE ME!" while Simpson shouts "CURE YOURSELF!"

Emery is going to jail for selling seeds (mind you, for the most medicinal plant in the world - AND one that happens to cure cancer as well - this is sick in itself) and Emery missed that boat not only as a defence to his case, but also against all of the cancer patients and suffering people with hemp-treatable illnesses (readers of Cannabis Culture for instance) who unfortunately trusted that the editors of their Cannabis Culture magazine subscription would print the truth rather than purposely keep it from them to continue their own personal money making endeavors.

After all, if cannabis becomes legal the price will surely drop dramatically and then of course there is no more business for the Emerys, except for their new 'grandstanding' campaign to squash the truth about hemp medicine. And for that matter... who's even buying that?

The media would like to bury its head in the sand like there is no evidence to what we are telling you - ("certain" hemp publications as well). Hemp oil cures cancer because it is made of cannabinoids, which were proven in 1974 to cure cancers. You just didn't hear of it for "some reason"... The American Cancer Society was part of a study done in 1974 to find out what the deal was with cannabis; they were trying to find the negative properties of it. Through studies at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, it was instead proven that cannabinoids kill cancer cells. Why wasn't the study released and why is this debate continuing still today among people on the same side of cannabis activism?

Is the American Cancer Society hiding this from us? Are they telling us about it?

Why are they still collecting donations in hopes of "finding a cure" when a study they helped to fund already found it OVER 35 YEARS AGO???

It is time to start asking the tough questions and stop bickering over what is obviously factual and proven. If you want a Canadian court to back a cancer cure, you will need a judge with a gold bar up his ass because the arrogant and useless ones around here would jail a nun for a nickel.
