Bubble Man’s Macro Photography

For these photographs, I used the MPE 65mm lens by Canon, the MT24ex dual flash, and a Manfrotto tripod with a 410 Gear Head. With this equipment I can show the tiniest close-ups of a bud, leaf, and trichome in incredible detail. Many cameras that offer macro options are really just offering close ups, not a true 1:1 ratio size. Meaning, if the object being filmed is 2mm wide, it will show up on the film plane or digital sensor as 2mm wide.

Colours in Cannabis

Whenever the subject of colors in cannabis comes up, I’m reminded of the time I was working with a grow partner near Errington in the central Vancouver Island region. We had been growing a variety of strains because we were determining what grew well in the area and had a bunch of clones that had to be tried out.It was a good grow year with plenty of sunny days, though not as much rainfall as we would have liked.

In the summer of 2007, my extradition lawyer (in my fight with the US Justice Department over my seed distribution days) began discussions with Washington State District Attorney Todd Greenberg. They came up with a plea deal whereby, if I accepted a 10-year sentence – serving a minimum of five years in custody, no regular early parole – I could serve that time in Canadian federal prison, except about six months time served in Seattle pre-sentencing.

Pot Shots from Spain

I began to specialize in cannabis photography two years ago, and work with several Spanish cultivation publications such as Canamo, Yerba, and Spannabis. Paradise Seeds supplied me with various strains to cultivate and photograph, and PrimaJuana Growshop offered a magnificent Neville’s Haze. These plants are grown under HPS lights in 5- to 7-liter containers, and fed organic fertilizers.

Too Much Marijuana

Although impossible to have a toxic overdose of cannabis, it is quite possible to consume more than necessary. When you smoke too much marijuana or eat too much pot food, you may have symptoms of ataxia/dizziness, sweating, nausea, vomiting, possible crying, and sometimes a sensation of dying. But don’t be concerned; ingesting too much cannabis is not fatal or injurious to any organs. The best antidote is to crawl in bed, turn off the lights and go to sleep; all will be normal in the morning.

I was making a pot of coffee while putting the finishing touches on my upcoming Cheech & Chong book when my cell phone started ringing a jazz tune. I’ve had the phone for over a year but still don’t connect jazz with phone calls, so it played for quite a while before I realized what it was and answered. “It’s Marc Emery,” a voice cried out. My pot–shot memory immediately associated the name with great weed and I got a flashback high just hearing his voice.
