Activists staged protests and civil disobedience against DEA offices in over 50 US cities on June 6. Med-pot patients and activists converged upon their local DEA offices, giving their home-made "cease and desist" orders to agents, receptionists, and even slipping them under locked office doors.
The biggest protests were in the Californian cities of San Francisco, Oakland and Santa Rosa. In Washington DC, ten activists were arrested for chaining themselves to the doors of US Attorney General John Ashcroft, with another eight busted for protesting in San Francisco. However, no serious charges were laid.

In most cases the DEA offices simply closed down and locked their doors, with agents refusing to come outside or interact with the protestors.

The protests were coordinated by Americans for Safe Access Now, an umbrella organization for local activist groups.
